Just a thought

I have resisted beginning a blog for several reasons.  Privacy is the first reason, time is the second, and third is that writing is not my favorite way to express myself.  Now with the hope that we will be adding three children to our family, all from Ukraine, and all siblings, I am realizing that my time will be very limited as I try to meet the needs of all nine of my children.  Blogging once a week or so would allow me to keep any of my family and friends, that are interested in know how we are doing, updated on the happenings of our family.

We will all have to wait and see how consistently I do at keeping this updated.

We are currently waiting for the Ukrainian government to give us an appointment with the State Department of Adoption (SDA).  After we get that, we will confirm with the three children one more time that they all want us to adopt them.

Here is a thought:

If we work upon marble, it will perish; if we work upon brass, time will efface it; if we rear temples, they will crumble into dust; but if we work upon immortal minds and instill into them just principles, we are then engraving that upon tablets which no time will efface, but will brighten and brighten to all eternity.

–Daniel Webster

I have been thinking quite a bit about the time and energy that our family will be putting into the three Ukrainian children that we are adopting.  Sometimes the thought overwhelms me just a bit, and other times, I wonder what more worthwhile thing can I be doing than investing in the lives of three young souls.  I hope that in the process, along with all the challenges that are sure to come, that each member of our family will become more spiritually refined, and that we will be better people in the end.

I also think about the scripture in Mosiah 2:17 “And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”
