Day one of our journey (Saturday, March 12th)

Sleepy Sam at Kiev Airport

We finally commenced our journey on Saturday morning.  Late Friday night, Tony and I finished all our packing. The largest suitcase weighed too much, so we had to find a small bag and repack some of the things.  What a relief to have it all done and sitting at the door in the morning waiting to be loaded.

We departed from Salt Lake City, flew to Cincinnati, then to Paria, and finally to Kiev.  We arrived in Paris about 12:00 midnight Utah time.  With daylights savings time, the time difference is 8 hours, so we arrive in Ukraine at 11:00 a.m. which is now 3:00 a.m. Utah time.  Our travel could not have been   better at all. We seemed to get everywhere just before a crowd of people would arrive, so we did not have to wait in line for anything other than going through security in Paris.

I texted our Ukraine facilitator (adooption agency person that helps with all our accomodations, paperwork, etc.), Natasha, and text saying something like,

“WARNING . . . The Fabers are loaded with luggage. Tony and the boys are embarrassed and a little perplexed.  Being the only female in a family of 8, I am used to that. I take full blame and responsibility for all the luggage. See you soon!”

When Natasha arrived at the airport, she had rented a minivan to get our family  and ALL our luggage to our apartment.  She didn’t think we had alot of luggage. Perhaps that is because only a few of them were very large, the rest were all backpacks, my purse (stuffed to the brim), and duffle bags.  We were glad that she rented to minivan, even though we may have been able to get by with a smaller vehicle.  We did have to spend a bit more.
